The tradition continues.

Alder Street Barber is an independent, one-chair barbershop in a converted garage in Shadyside. It’s a relaxed space with a slightly bohemian vibe, filled with books, art, music, and collected objects. A wall of international currency reflects the clients who have passed through the shop over the years—from professors, students, doctors, and hospital staff at Carnegie Mellon, Pitt, UPMC, and other Pittsburgh institutions to neighborhood regulars and visitors from around the world.

“My great-grandfather emigrated from Italy in 1907 and established a barbershop in Pittsburgh’s East End, only blocks from where Alder Street Barber stands today. I’m very happy to continue that tradition for the people of Pittsburgh.”
